Baby's impromptu competition

My baby finally got his first trophy (2nd runner up) last Saturday at the Baby Simgapore 2013 @ Chong Pang CC, under the Best Family Portrait category!! We did not intend to take part in the competition actually, was there to support my sis-in-law and in-laws! But we saw that the number of competitors were really too few and prizes seems more than winners! Ad since we were there doing nothing, I asked WL to check if we can still take part at about 3:30pm! But the lady was not the person in charge, so she can't decide till she check with the relevant party, and by the time we know we can take part, it was like 5-10 mins before the closing time, ie at about 4pm! And the results were announced at about 4:30pm and to our surprise, we were the 3rd winner!! Haha... And my sis-in-law family came in 4th! Sorry to say, it's mainly due to us that she got in as 4th, if we didn't take part, she would be in the 3rd position! :p

And they had another category, the Family Scrapbooking contest! As the kids were really bored, Ashley and Adwin did some drawing and my sis-in-law submitted and they came in 4th! So the kids were really happy too!

Adwin in childcare...

Really fast, my Adwin is in his final year in the childcare since we sent him there when he was 28 months old!! He will be the graduating class this year and joining his jiejie next year in primary school... And his teacher, 杨老师, had been very nice to take pictures of the kids in the class, showing us, parents, what the kids had been doing and enjoying... Art lesson!! And my Adwin boy, had been asking his 老师, why is she teaching him Chinese, asking them to do writing in the morning, and Art in the afternoon doing painting? While his teacher Ler (his art and craft teacher @ Chong Pang CC) only teaches him art and no Chinese with no homework and writing in class!! See, my boy is really growing up with tons of why why why.... Lol...

Our second supper after baby came along...

It's been such a long time back since we had our supper in Jan 2012! As we had an early dinner that Friday, so we thought to bring the kids for some Prata after Adwin's Chinese class. So here we are, enjoying our late night food while baby is sleeping!! Lol...

My sleepy baby watching Barney...

Alvan had been able to sit and watch Barney recently while on a car ride. I did not know he likes Barney till recently we went to Malacca for a short stay during the 1 week March break. As I had previously converted the Barney Let's go School DVD into my iPhone video (if I remember correctly, this was done when we brought the kids to Phuket in 2009!), so this was the only thing I had on had to distract him for awhile!

Anyway, Alvan had also recently been sleeping lesser, he would sometime be skipping the late afternoon nap and go to bed earlier at about 8pm! But sometimes he would still be so energetic that he refused to sleep even when it's reaching 10pm! And here's a picture of him in the room, catching Barney after been fed but still refused to sleep!!

Baby is 16 months old!!

Time really files... My baby is now 16 months old!!! He's getting really mischievous now, always trying to do things on his own after he saw what his jiejie and korkor did!! And he's also getting really sticky to me now! But he will say 'mama' when he sees me after work and I went disappear for awhile and suddenly appear in front of him!! Haha... He's always looking out for me, and following me around the house!! So, pretty tough for me to get things done unless he's asleep! And his nap is getting shorter too!! He can skip the afternoon nap sometimes and it's driving me mad to be playing with him after work till the time he goes to bed!!! But when I realized how fast my baby is growing, am glad I have all the time to be with him now, watching him grow up and bonding with him!! :)

My homemade thunder tea rice (擂茶)

This is my first time blogging an entry which happened on the same day!! Haha... Super rare!!

Ok, I managed to make this thunder tea rice for dinner today and am sooooo proud of it!! Because I had never thought I can make it and especially when WL even commented its nice!! So that made me happier!! Haha.... Another reason for me bogging it down, so I can refer when I need to cook again!! :p am getting really forgetful after having 3 kids!! Just an excuse? Lol...

The ingredients needed to make, I must say, is truly a lot and some are hard to get, so all the more I find it challenging!! It's a simple and healthy meal, but abit troublesome...

Here's the ingredient for the tea paste...
3 cups basil leaves
2 cups Coriander
1 cup Mint leaves
1 cup roasted peanuts
2 tbsp sesame seed
2 tbsp fried Ikan Bilis
1 tbsp green tea powder (if dun have, can substitute w Chinese tea leaves)
Some salt for taste
1 to 1-1/2 cup of water for blending

You just need to blend all ingredients together! Ehhhh, for the next round, I will omit light frying the basil leaves and the coriander! Somehow the soup is not really rich, the smell and taste is there, but when mixed with hot water, the paste will somehow get settled down on its own, and not fully 'dissolved' with the water!

Baby imitating...

Ashley got viral fever last week, therefore she was constantly holding onto the thermometer to check her temperature and report to me so I can administered her the proper medicine to control her fever!! And, my baby would try to grab hold of the thermometer whenever he sees it on the table or within his reach! Here's him, doing what his jiejie did!!

Balloons balloons...

Have I mention before that my baby loves balloons?? He would reach out his hands whenever he sees balloon!! And see what he did to this butterfly balloon sculture?? Creative!! Haha...

My cutie baby...

See the picture of my cutie baby?? Haha... Why did he do that? He was being locked out from the study room as his korkor and jiejie were inside doing their homework!! He just keep on knocking on the door and peeping into the room through the vertical glass opening!!! And this photo was taken by daddy WL!!

Another climbing act by baby again!! This time, he managed to get onto the Ikea children's table on his own!!! He was really happy when he reached the table top!! He managed to do it with the help of the chair!! But 2nd attempt to get onto the table without a chair failed!! Haha... He was really upset and angry for not able to it the 2nd time!! Haha...

Baby first encounter with sand at the beach!

The time has come for my baby to get his hands dirty with sand!! It's always the kids favourite activity, going to the beach and play with sand and sea water!! And it's another challenge for me to wash and clean 3 kids now after their fun time!! I guess I need to bring more water next time and time for me to crack my head to think of how to best wash Ashley now. As she's getting bigger and it's not right for her to go naked in the public!! Maybe I should invent a portable changing room!! Ehm... Tough one!! :(

Anyway, back track, baby was pretty irritated with the sand when he first touched the beach ball!! Throwing it away the moment he touched the sand on it!! But he adapted pretty quickly, able to walk in the sand towards the sea and then getting his pair of hand really dirty with all the sand!! But I guess it's a good start, but pretty scare to go for another beach outing!! Haha...

Baby able to ride on his own

My baby is definitely learning things fast!! He's now able to get on and off those kiddy cars on his own!! And he's so pro in it!! Haha...

Initially he was only pushing himself backwards when he's on one, but days later, he able to ride forward!! A smart boy!! And he's always proud to show me he can do things on his own! :)

Adwin mastering his opening and locking doors skill

The time has come for my adwin to learn how to lock and unlock the doors! This time, it was Ashley who taught him how to do it and he's always so eager to be the one asking to unlock and lock the door should he knows we are going out!!

Golden mushroom

I saw this golden mushroom growing thing at a shop in SSC selling all Taiwanese products! I remember seeing some 'friends' posting their pictures of the mushroom growing in FB but had no idea where they got them from! And WL bought a box for me to try!!!

The instruction was easy, just need to open up the square hole indicated on the box, cut a cross on the plastic bag, water the mushroom twice a day, morning and night and, wait for the mushroom to grow and cut to eat them!!

But, till today, I guess I had been waiting for about 10days or more, I see nothing growing out from the box... Sad!! And am wondering is it due to the insufficient sunlight? Or the watering of plant which I had clearly forgotten on some days and mostly watering it once a day!! Haha... And, to make me feel much worse, I saw some white ants growing out of the opening!!! Oh my... How can my mushroom grow??!! :(

First visit to JB Hello kitty, the Little Big Club and Legoland!

This is another super overdue post!! We went to the theme parks in JB during the boys' birthday, ie 11 to 13 dec 2012.

We had planned for this trip for a long time, hoping the kids would enjoy the parks and booked the resort stay since last quarter of the year! But things always happened unexpectedly!!! All the boys and man in the family had food poisoning after our visit to the Hello Kitty and the Little Big Club! What a wasted trip! And to make things worst, my baby fell from the bed and knocked on his forehead, giving him his first 'Lu ku' after he turned 1!!!

Overall, Hello kitty is not worth visiting, as its really small, maybe the size of the Popular bookstore at Causeway Point! And there's only 1 ride inside, long queues for all the workshops and we were only allow one visit to the house of Hello Kitty!

The Little Big Club is more fun for the kids, having more rides and a big indoor playground for the kids! Another plus point is its air-conditioned!!! Haha...

After a fun filled day, we checked into the resort and went for dinner at one of the restaurant there. And it was at about 10pm that night that WL started to puke! After a night's rest, we had thought to proceed with our Legoland visit, but no, Adwin started to feel lousy and he also started to puke a few times and diarrheal! And later I realized, my baby also got diarrhea! So, the day was spend practically resting in the resort room!! But till dinner time, I was almost bored to death and decided to bring the kids and my helder to the nearby mall, Taman Universiti for dinner and some shopping!! And my adwin had a super boring and disappointed birthday!! Had thought to treat him to his favorite sushi dinner for his birthday, but turned out, the restaurant said they ran out of tamago!! OMG!!
