Mummy quit her full time job!!

I had been waiting for THE day to arrive with MUCH anticipation!!! I had tendered my resignation on 29 June 2009. Come to think of it, it was only after a short discussion with WL in the car (when he drove me to work in the morning), that both of us are working so hard to make others rich!! We are hoping for a change, hoping for more time with our 2 kids, watching them grow, more time for ourselves, and finding a chance to do what we enjoy and like.

Anyway, I will not be a 'tai-tai' as some of you may thought I would be... rather, I would be working part time with my dad, helping out in his company, but at the same time, having a much more flexible timing to look after my 2 active children. I hope to venture into something I like, no plan yet, cos I have tons of ideas spinning in my head now! haha...

Ashley on stage

We went for a food fair @ Toa Payoh for lunch yesterday... I had thought that this food fair was featuring only the Hock Chew food.... But, we were pretty disappointed, as it was more of a multi-dialect food fair, so there were many other food, but all were not nice... hahaha...

But we enjoy ourselves, cos the kids enjoyed themselves!! The stage was emptied, so the kids have fun climbing up there running around... And my Ashley was busy trying to perform too!! I asked her what does she want to do running up on the stage, and she started singing for me!

Just a photo on her on the stage... if you can't load the above video...

Another day which we dunno where to go... hahaha.... And since WL need to go to SK to pass something to his friend, so decided to pop by Compass Point for some shopping...

No matter where we go, if the kids can spot those kiddy car rides, we will sure be stuck at that area for sometime, to let them have a ride first before we can move on... And since then, I had all the $1 coin in my wallet, just in case I can't get the change if they scream for a ride!!

And very funny though, I do not understand why sometimes Adwin is afraid to let the ride move... he would rather sit in a motionless kiddy car, than to deposit the $1 coin for the car to move... And see here, he decided to get out of the Barney car ride after I put the $1 coin in, in the end, Ashley has to get onto the ride so as not to waste my $$!! hahaha... And Adwin does enjoy being an audience!!

Our Sundays breakfast

We always have fast food breakfast on Sundays, as 1st born got her art class on Sundays and it happened to be above the Macdonalds and since day 1, 1st born knows she can have Macdonalds breakfast before her art class.

But we do get sick of Mac's breakfast every sunday, so we try to alternate between Mac & KFC breakfast, cos my princess Jiejie only allows these 2 for breakfast on Sundays!! hahaha... And 2nd born can manage to feed himself using the fork, and i realised he would prefer the sausage rather then the pancakes!! I didn't know until one morning I tried the sausage on him and he refused all the pancakes after that!!! :p

And just last Sunday, I got Ashley the Big Breakfast... she says it's very nice!! I think this is better than pancake, as it has got scrambled egg!! Meanwhile, 2nd born will still stick to the pancake, cos he rejected the scrambled egg!! :(

Science Center -- Da Vinci

WL had wanted so much to go for the Da Vinci exhibition since it started some time back & we finally find time to drop by on a Sunday afternoon.... I must say it's really interesting how that guy can come up with all the interesting ideas and thoughts!!! A real smart guy!! I must find some time to fix this 'bridge' as showcase at the entrance of the exhibition, no nails or screws, juz 15 sticks to fix this up!! :)

And you see my 2nd born, writing even on the go!! hahaha...

Ashley's 4th birthday

Time really files... My 1st born is turning 4 this year.... Seems like only yesterday that she is still my baby being carried in my arms... And now she can sing, dance, make fun of her brother, irritate the parents and talk back... everything seems to pass by so fast...

And this year, first time for her to request the type of birthday she wants!! She told me, "mama, I want a princess cake ok, the princess must be tall, with strawberry on top and watermelon at the bottom!" And after hearing that, am lost on what type of cake she wants!! And the only thing that came to me is, a 3D Princess cake!! hahaha... And after comparing the price of a 3D princess cake from ecreative and the flat princess cake from Bengawan Solo, both are about the same, so I choose to go with a 3D one!

And this year, the goodie bag items were bought by WL, cos I have not time @ all for all these & even packing of the goodie bags were done only on the day itself, cos I had been working thru the nite from 30 June to 1 Jul 5am!! Besides me busy catching my sleep, I was also busy preparing for her birthday celebration in her childcare! Cos I think Jiejie hopes to celebrate with her friends in the childcare. When I mentioned to her on Saturday that we are having lunch with both families to celebrate her birthday, she pops this question on me: "Mama, what about my friends? They coming also?"... hahaha.. I was really amazed!! Then I told her, "No darling, today only celebrates with family, your friends will sing you birthday song on the actual day ok, as Mummy had prepared a very nice Princess cake for you and your friends!!"

There were no BIG parties this year... cos we had booked a weekend stay at DownTownEast prior to her birthday cos am having a packed week schedule at work and won't have time for other celebrations. And the kids love Wild Wild Wet, lucky WL had bought the DeCard membership, so we have unlimited access to this park as well as the outdoor Escape Theme park. And before we end our stay there, I had proposed to come again for Adwin's 2nd birthday and this time, we gonna have a BBQ party there!!! Yippee... :D

My 2 entertaining kids

Sometimes the 2 looks so adorable together!! But when they started screaming at each other, they are no longer cute....

These pictures were taken after Ashley's art class, while waiting for daddy to come & pick us up, they're entertaining themselves... haha... Ashley singing her songs... Adwin dancing at the back!!

Our packed Saturday....

Am still wondering how can our Saturday be so packed??? Since around March 2009, we had enrolled Ashley up for the Music Wonderland lesson @ Yamaha every Saturday for 9:15am class, as we had thought to terminate her Chinese lesson @ Tian Xia, which is from 11:15am to 12:45pm, as we had felt she's not enjoying the class and most of the time, seems like her childcare is teaching 'enough' chinese to her. But just about 2-3 lessons before her term ends, suddenly she's telling us that she likes this chinese enrichment class!! So, no choice, we decided to let her continue and after 2 terms of her non-performance at the end of the term, our effort finally paid off in March, we finally see her performed!! And she's really enjoying it!! And, for this June holiday, Tian Xia is giving Ashley a break, that means we are also having a break from sending her to the chinese enrichment class on saturday! So we took this opportunity to bring the kids the Splash Park @ Sembawang Shopping Center... See how much they enjoy the water!! haha...

And, that's not all for THIS Saturday... we are also bringing the kids to watch "The Little BIG club"... cos Barney is here too!! Ehm... am not impressed with this show, cos most of the characters are not known to my 2 kids, except for Bob the Builder and Barney... can't catch them much in the pictures... ONLY during pre-show... snacking away... haha...

Since we rarely goes to the Expo, after the show, we managed to settle our dinner @ the Macau place and went to shop @ John Little... ehm, surprisely, we bought quite a few things there, guess it's been a LONG time since we did some shopping! hahaha...

2nd born pushing 1st born in the car

The photos had been pending since last month!!

hahaha... See my poor son pushing the jie-jie in the car... :( I feel so sad that the jie-jie is not loving him as much as he is towards her. He'll always do what Ashley tells him to, from picking her things up from the floor, carry her tortoise to pushing her in the car, even talking also he does as what is told by her!!

This car was bought for 1st born by her gong-gong about 3 years back... But had not bring the car back, all along was at my parent's house and now the 2 kids are enjoying the car, taking turns to sit in and be pushed but the other. It's supposed to be a automated car, but my dad find it too fast for the kids, so had never turn on the power for them to ride in.

Adwin speech progress

I had wanted to jot down Adwin's speech development, as we feel he's really good in his speech compared to Ashley. Ashley can't really speak at the age of 2year 3mths, as this is the age we put her into full day childcare. At that time, I was really worried she get bullied in the center and not able to tell us or speak up. But after some time, I found she was a 'bully' in the center... hahaha... as a consolation to me, is she will not get bullied!! I don't know if that's the mentality of all mummies.

Ok, back to the development of Adwin's speech. In fact, we are very impressed with his development, and I actually contribute this to Ashley. As Adwin would follow Ashley whenever she's around. And he's picking up everything Ashley said, that is why people say, children's brain is just like a piece of sponge, they'll absorb whatever they hear, which I totally agree!! In fact, before Adwin turns 1 year old, he's able to differentiate 'Ma-ma' & 'Pa-pa' and gladly, his first word is 'Ma-ma' & 'Nai-nai' (which means milk!)

There were many occasions, when we ask Adwin to speak up, he just stared at us, but when Ashley ask him to say something, he'll gladly say it after him!!

1) Now, at his age, 17mths, whenever I bring him to the bedroom to sleep, he'll point to me and say "Jie-jie, lai, or-or", which means "sister, come, sleep".

2) He had also associate darkness with sleeping!! So, whenever, he sees night time, he'll turn to me and say "an-an" (darkness) and I would ask him, so what do we do when it's dark? He'll reply, "or-or" (sleep)! hahaha...

3) By the age of 1, he is able to tell me when he wants milk, he'll turn to me and say, "Nai-nai", partly I feel it's due to him still being breast-fed, he will not just cry for his milk, he'll always tell me he want "nai-nai"!

4) Recently, due to the serial on ch8 about Ping Pong (table-tennis), WL had bought a pair of the bats at home and Adwin can bring the 2 bats & pass to the daddy & tell him "ping-pang", indicating he wanna play!

5) Adwin is also able to hum "Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars" at about 13-14 mths old, this really impresses me!! He loves this song so much, whenever my mum sings the chinese version to him, he'll have the stars action, opening & closing of hand high up!! Now at 17mths old, he tries to sing the song! hahaha... And he really loves music, whenever he hears music, he'll clap his hands and would ask me to join him in clapping! Even when we are outside shopping!!

6) And he is able to address all our family members correctly!! Ma-ma, Pa-pa, Jie-jie, Yi-yi, Yi-zhang, Po-po, Gong-gong, Ye-ye, Nai-nai, even my mum's maid, ka-ka... but sometimes he address her as "apa", cos whenever my mum calls my maid, she would ask "apa"! haha... there was an incident last week, where the maid went to the corridor to do laundry and Adwin was standing at the door, calling out "apa" a few times, seeing that she did not response to him, he shouted her name "anah"!! hahaha... that's how naughty my Adwin is!!

7) He's really afraid of insects and would should "ga-ga" (insects) if he sees one, after which, he'll pat his chest & tell us, "pa-pa" (scare) and point to that insect! Even when he sees one in a book, magazine or papers, he's sure to do this!

All these makes me feel that, my kids are really growing up so fast.. hope I can do something about my job, so I can have more time with them... :(

Mother's Day

So fast, Mother's day is here again... And by right, Ashley would have done up a card for me from her childcare... BUT, sadly to say, these 2 years, the week before Mother's day, she's home due to 1) last year HFMD; and 2) this year, her flu & cough & the recent swine flu outbreak!

This year, seems like we had quite a bit of a celebration... Why did I say that?

1) We joined the Chong Pang CC Mother's Day celebration with my in-laws extended family, with a total of about 3 tables, if am not wrong, so total to about 30 pax! Ehm, the dinner was held at Pin Si Restaurant @ Yishun. So far, we had been there for Ashley's 3rd birthday celebration, my impression was, their food is nice and kinda unique. But for this time, the food just taste normal... as in the food is just like normal wedding dinner type... I guess it's due to 'mass production', there were about 60 tables that evening. And due to the recent swine flu outbreak, everyone had to have their temperature taken before we are seated. Oh ya, forgot to mention, the dinner was on 02 May (Sat).

2) First time after I got married, we celebrated Mother's day with my mum on the actual day, i.e. 10 May (Sun). We went to Long Beach @ IMM for lunch, it was very nice!! cos we went for the 10-course set lunch... the crabs were nice & BIG. However, was quite disappointed, cos the dishes were not out in sequence, due to the 'festive season'.

3) After our lunch, we went to downtown east for another BBQ Mother's day celebration with my in-laws.

And realised downtown east had a make-over & WL was impressed that he signed us up for the De-card & we get 3D/2N free stay @ the chalet, so now planning for a stay during the June holidays!! & first time we brought the kids to Xplorer Kids, they enjoyed SO much & WE (myself & WL) had a tough time chasing after them... hahaha... guess, age is really catching up for us!

Adwin first time in such ball pool... he's abit lost when seated inside... hahaha... But Ashley had a real fun time in these ball pools...

Adwin on his favorite... CARS.. :D

Sad to say, Ashley only had these 'blurry' photos taken as she's actively running around!! She loves this Mega Play... Lucky we dun have to drag 2 crying kids out! whew... And I really find these slides so scary!!.. But Ashley says it's really FUN & only abit scary! hahaha...
