My crochet works

This has been a hobby of mine since young, I remember starting out when I was only in P4, where we can learn crocheting at those shops or at Fairprice supermarket where yarns were sold.  There would always be a tutor there weekly whereby she will teach us what we want to do if we purchase the yarns there!  But nowadays, such services is no longer available anywhere I think, which I thought is sad, as this does deter many people to learn something if they were interested in any.  Though am a member of a few groups in Facebook of such interest, many would post online asking if there is anyone available to teach as they were interested in picking up a new skill/hobby.  Many were referred to some classes held in some shops, which I thought the price to pay for is very expensive compared to my times, where it's free.

This chair cover is made up of balance yarns, which I think is a very useful & easy project to start with.

This is a jacket made for my 3rd born with a hood!!

A toddler's poncho made for a friend's daughter.

My entrance to the kitchen valance.

A few ipod covers for my 1st born.

Cupcake!

Unicorn!

Elmo (for a Elmo fan)

A plain purple cover for my 1st born BFF!

I am more into crochet tops and bags, to-date, I have about 5 tops which I crochet for myself, not yet dare to crochet a bottom, though I have seen many ideas of dresses and shorts or skirts.

This is a 3D leaf bag design for my MIL on her birthday in 2020.

This is another 3D leaf bag for my sis-in-law as her christmas present 2021!

Another 2021 Christmas present for 2nd & 3rd born piano teacher!!  Again, another no pattern to follow bag, learnt the stitch and just went along to get my ideal size and with lining too!!  I finally am able to do up linings on all my crochet bags with a zipped pocket inside, am really impressed with myself! Hahaha...

This is a DIY pack which I got from Taobao, got a few actually, made for my 2 nieces for their Christmas in 2020!   I personally thought this design is really cute & nice!

This is also a DIY pack from Taobao, it can fit an iPad... with all the accessories included and even the instructions online to finish it!  Managed to use if for this CNY!

This bag is my trial one which i made with no specific instructions, size done with my guts after learning the stitch.

This is a last minute project which I did using some patterns found for the lion dance head for a bag actually, and I modified it to be a wine bag!  This was given to WL's friend during one of the gathering in 2021 CNY!

This is ONE of the top I did for myself, with my crochet bag!! hahaha.. taken during Xmas 2021 season with my 3rd born!

This is my BIGGEST Project ever done!!  A cover for my KING size bed, using granny squares!!  Initially I though it was easy, as I can always bring some yarns out with me and complete the granny squares, even joining them up was easy, the most difficult part is the weaving in of all the loose yarns! OMG... to be honest, I have kept this piece in my drawers with 80% of the ends still loose!! Hahahaha...

I always like to share my crochet journey with anyone interested in it... Though I had attempt to teach my 1st born with this hobby, but she was never interested... sadly, no one for me to pass on my skill to.  My 10 YO niece was initially interested and wanted to try her hands on amigurumi, but she gave up after a few tries, as she finds it difficult to handle single crochet stitch.  So, if anyone of you is interested, you can always try to reach out to me via my email.

My new hobby - Terrarium

We have recently share a common hobby, I meant for me and my 3 children!!! Can't remember when was it that trigger this idea of Terrarium in my eldest son.... Ehm... I think it was during one shopping trip to the Millennium walk when I walked into a shop selling mini plants and he saw the Terrarium on display there... He started asking what are those and how to make it and me started telling him about workshops outside teaching to DIY one yourself... And immediately, he asked to attend one and I started high and low searching for weekend workshop which we can attend!  But weeks after weeks, the workshop schedule would clash on their weekend classes timing thus no chance for us to sign up for one.

And, happened to chance upon this small shop at PS, which put a sign saying Terrarium workshop here!!! My son started asking if we can do it on the spot!!! And here we go... A last minute workshop right after our dinner!!! Hahaha.

And ta-da... Here's my 3 precious creations!!!

Impressed that my baby select all his figurines and plant and display on his own!!!

And this is Adwin's creation... Football pandas!!

And my girl's frozen theme... I like this very much.  As I love these snow scene.

And, while we took great care to bring all these nice creations home... It was kind of disaster when we open them up the moment we reached home!!! The figurines had all gone crazy, flying all around the globe!!! And especially Adwin's globe, his pond was missing and all the colourful stones were mixed up!!! He was super upset and I promised to fix it back for him!!!

And here's my promise!!! After a long and difficult time trying to find these exact small stones and colour...

And after learning the rope of putting up a Terrarium, I started buying all the materials on my own and doing them at home!!! My destress therapy which I super liked and enjoyed now... Seriously, I feel its the age that is catching up , thats why the change in hobby..  hahaha... Anyways, who cares! So long thr creator enjoys it and its a way to beautify my house!!!

Here's my first creation!!! Thinking to gift to hubby WL for him to bring and put on his desktop, but till today its still sitting at home... Hahaha... Self enjoyment!!!

And here's my creation today!!  Super like the pair of old couple... Cos the old lady is knitting something in her hands... Sooo like me!!! Hahaha....  How good it is to enjoy life when I get to that old....  More Terrarium to come... Cos I had lots of materials on hand!!! Hahaha..

My potato plant...

Seems like the older I get, my interest in gardening is increasing... but I never had luck in growing plants let alone bloom flowers... hahaha....

But this time, my potato plant blooms!!! As always, I won't be able to finish cooking my potato before they starts to grow buds in them... And yes, once bud starts to grow in potato, it's not good for eating... And I had seen many FB postings on growing potatoes... so I thought to give it a try... And out of the 2 potatoes I plated, only 1 survive and it managed to bloom!!! Finally.. though the flower is really tiny but I thought it's really pretty... :)

CNY 2016 - my work

As usual, I would be super duper busy before CNY... The older I get, the more things I would like to try my hand on.. hahaha...

And this is my hand made lantern for this year... which I super like... am really lucky that the lady selling these handicrafts items... she was really very eager to share the instructions readily...

This lantern design is made for Alvan's cc cny competition... I really ran out of easy design and really wants him to join in the fun of making a lantern for the competition, I did see some super complicated lantern which are obviously made by the parents so the child can win! Well, I would see that he's enjoying the processing of lantern making more than winning...

Another first try item this year is the mandarin orange candied skin peel... I had wanted to try last year as the amount of oranges we need to disposed off is pretty much... but I have got no time for it last year... so they still went into the trash!

This is the amount of work for the orange candied skin and the orange jam I made for 16 oranges! Took me the whole morning to finish all the work!

This year I managed to create our own lo hei!!! So happy everyone enjoyed it and I enjoyed the process of shredding!!! Hahaha... but next year, I would need to get a small size shredder as the radish and carrots shred were abit too fat! Hahaha... but the can of abalone was really super yummy!!! Huat ah!!!
