Our CNY day 2 - Jurong Lake Park trip

Since the Covid pandemic, I believe many of us had went into cycling, hiking, brisk walking and some outdoor activities.  As many of us had to stay home for work or schooling, so when there is some free time available, many would venture out for some exercises or just walks instead of shopping, as many shops were either closed or dining out was not an option.

WL spotted this book while we were at the bookstore one day and found many places which we were not aware of even though Singapore is a tiny red dot country!  So here we are, venturing into a place we had been before, but the spots were not where we been to yet.

Due to the endemic, big gatherings were not allowed for this CNY, and we had nowhere to go visiting, WL decided to bring the kids for some walks, rather than staying at home where the 3 children always hold on to their mobiles for contents!!

My 1st born randomly chose this Jurong Lake park for a walk this time.  We had visited this Lake park when it was opened in 2017 or 2018, but we only went to the playground area.  This day, we ventured to the other side of the park, where there were a vast greenery and I think it's a rare sight where we can see a vast land of green green grass with a far far back drop of high rise housing!

A walk in the green green grass....

This is a mini hill in the park, a spot to overlook more greenery!

Photos taken at top of the mini hill!

The route towards the photo spot....

And this 'steel tree' was featured in the book, & here we are, a photoshoot to prove that we have been here!! Hahaha...

The selfie stick which I always bring along with me now!

Close up of the tree!!

Some random shots with the fallen tree trunk & grass!

Another spot I told my 3rd born, looks like you were in another country, not Singapore!  Spot the animals at the back???

There were a few of such cages around in the parks for many to take photos...

Curvy walks in the parks... which will led to the lake!!  As this is the Jurong Lake park, it must have a lake right? Hahaha...

Guess what this pair of father & son doing??

By the time we are done exploring, it started to rain!! And it was time for DINNER!!!  But, as today is the 2nd day of our Lunar New Year (2 Feb 2022), many places were not open yet, so we decided to try our luck at Jurong Point shopping center for more food options.

WL took this photo saying looks like were were in JAPAN!!! This is a Japan food street at the basement area... looks like all the restaurants where opened here!!

This photo taken by my 2nd born, on the 3rd level of the mall!  A funny thing happened, I do not understand why do we have to do another Safe entry scan to get from 2nd level to 3rd level of the mall when we did a scan from the car park entry.  And he was the only one who went thru, the rest of us were stuck there as the scan gantry suddenly went out of order!! 😕

Finally deciding to settle our dinner at Monster Curry, but only found out that many items were not available after we were trying to place order!!  Ended up, WL & I decided to order a big portion for sharing with the 3rd born, while the other 2 ordered their standard rice portion.  Can you see the difference between the one for sharing and their standard portion here??  Luckily we went for the shared portion... it's really huge!!  As we (the 2 oldies) were trying to cut down our carbo intake for dinner, this is a very good option!  First time for my 3rd born to try out this place, he's liking it... so guess we can come back again, to try their other menu options, since today's menu was really limited.

We went around the mall for a little walk before heading home and as usual, now malls always have these arcades for claw machines and toss coins machines. It's always a luck thing for these machines, and lucky my children are not obsessed with winning something before we can leave the arcade!!

A night out to the Night Festival

We decided to go for a walk to this year's Night Festival.  I remembered the last time I went for such event was maybe between 2014 to 2016, long long way back.

Anyway, WL was joining his colleague for some brisk walking session in the late afternoon and decided to meet us outside for dinner after 3rd born's piano session.  And here we are, at Tiong Bahru first time trying out Greek food!!  Not a bad choice, as my kids prefer anything NOT rice! Hahaha... And here, we were served with pita (flatbread) bread to go with some dips & other dishes.  At least, we were ALL full by the time we are done.  Their desserts were nice, especially their rice pudding.  And my after meal coffee was intense! Hahaha... wish me luck in sleeping later!

So, here we are, at the Art Museum for the Night festival!! After the below photo was taken, we found my 2nd born teacher at the side waiting to acknowledge him!! Hahaha... what a coincidence, we can actually bumped into his teacher at the this time at the same location!!  And surprisingly, he recognized him even with the mask on!!

As usual, the Night festival is mainly using lights to screen on some of local's attraction and mainly in the central area.  Interestingly, the padang field was a nice location as many of us can find a spot and sit around, enjoying the night scenery here.

My super laid-back son... busy messaging his friend on his encounter with their teacher! Hahaha...

Nice back-drop!!

We have really nice night CBD in our little red dot country, i didn't realised this photo captures the moon!

Me & my first born!! Always doing selfie or rather wefie!!  Girls are afterall girls... the boys just hate taking photos... oops, correction, my 3rd born is still ok with taking photos... it's the teenage boy who hates taking photos!

This photo was posted so we know the height difference between the 2 brothers here!!  What were they doing?  Hahaha...  Anyway, my 2nd born is now the tallest in the family, standing at 1.8m tall, he's hoping he can grow taller, let's see how tall he will go... 👍

We went into the Art museum for a little walk since it was still open at 10pm and there were some events held inside too, which is free, but most of them were closed by the time we were inside.  But good to know we can be back again when we have the time.  This robot below is made up of used electronic devices... and a few exhibits here were mainly focusing on using recycled items to do arts.

A pretty long stretch of escalator, which we made use of for our many wifies! Hahaha...

Symphony @ Botanical Gardens

It's been a loooooong looooong time since we joint this event... I guess even #3 can't recall coming for one... hahaha...

Hb decided to bring the kids out this time... I didn't prepare food for this, as it was pretty last minute plus my helper is on off this Sunday... so am kind of handicapped! hahaha...  ok, really excuse is me being lazy...   But we brought some snacks along... still not enough for my ever hungry children!

Being kiasu locals, we were there pretty early, to 'chope' a nice spot to enjoy the symphony... and #3 is asking for more of such picnic like outing... I guess it's good so the kids enjoy some kind of outdoor doing nothing, so not too much gadgets and just enjoy some greenary since we are at the botanical gardens of Singapore!

A picture when the park is still not packed yet!

My super relaxed son... enjoying his snacks and waiting for the performance to start....

Look at the back.. where more people had arrive and starting to pack the park...

A super 'unglamed' ME plus a lazy hb...  😰

Performance ended... see people starting to clear the park...

Midst of the performance... we have quite a nice pack of audience... trying to enjoy the greenary and performancce.... good!

Our looooong awaited dinner... Kids were so hungry and they pretty fast in clearing their food! Hahaha... Nice place but I think abit too expensive... ehm... can't recall the cafe's name... but it's the 1st cafe along Upper Thomson Road, just next to the Shell station... hahaha... know where??  I had wanted to load more photos of our food... BUT I can't connect my mobile to my laptop for transferring of the photos... argh... but wait, I just found out that I did not take any photos on the food we ordered! Hahahaha... :p

Our active 1st day of 2019

I thought we can laze around on the 1st day of the new year... as we need to get up early for 1st day of school tomorrow.... but our active daddy decided to bring us all to cycle at east coast park!! Ended up we all had a super shiong cycling trip from ECP all the way to Marina Barrage!!!  The whole trip took us about an hour 40mins... we were all burned, perspired and drained when we reached our starting point!!  But I guess a good work out for us all on new year day... hopefully we can lead a healthy lifestyle for the year... to stay healthy is our goal!!

Oh yes... and I finally went for the famous bedok bak chor mee after cycling ... kids were not able to appreciate this version of the bak chor mee... hahaha... the last time I had it was on my ROM, can't remember which day exactly cos we had a BBQ dinner for our friends to celebrate ROM... hahaha... we always do things to make our lives busy! Lol...

Public transport day....

I was assigned to bring my 2 boys with me from home to the Sports Stadium, as WL had bought the tickets to catch PSG vs Atletico match in Singapore!!  To save the time & hassle of him going around this small island to pick us all up, easier for me to take public transport with my 2 boys there.

Here we are, as ever, my super happy boy to take bus & MRT across the island... I have no idea, why he would be sooo obsessed with all the different mode of transport since a young age!

Lucky for them, the feeder bus was a double-decker one! So, off they zoom up to the top the moment they got onto one!

My super funny faced boy!  A good chance to show them how to transfer from the NSL to the Circle line... since they have been in cars the day they were born till now... Lucky kids huh!!??

FINALLY HERE!!! whew... lucky I didn't lose my way... hahaha.... Been a long long time since I take public transport too, technically speaking, since we had our first newborn, we bought a car to ferry the kids around... :p
